Here are the steps for dismantling the water pump in a Touran:
1. First, you need to disconnect the pump cover from the pump body. Unscrew the connecting nut between them and then carefully use a hammer and a pure copper rod to lightly tap the pump cover, allowing it to come off. If there is an ejector bolt, you can also use it to assist in the dismantling process.
2. Next is the removal of the impeller. After unscrewing the impeller nut, you will need a wooden or lead hammer to gently tap around the circumference of the impeller, allowing it to be easily removed. If the impeller is difficult to remove due to rust, you can soak it in oil or gasoline to facilitate the subsequent dismantling work.
3. Then, you can proceed with the dismantling of the pump body. Start by disconnecting the connecting nut between the pump body and the bracket, and then remove the pump body. Next, remove the packing gland and take out the internal packing.
4. Finally, you can dismantle the pump shaft. In this step, you need to first remove the front and rear bearing gland from the bearing body of the bracket, and then use a pure copper rod to tap from the front end of the shaft towards the back (towards the direction of the coupling). This will allow the shaft to be successfully removed. Throughout the dismantling process, be careful not to damage the shaft and keep the dismantled parts organized in the correct order.
